AI video for social ads
We produce AI video for advertising on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. In portrait format, with a hook in the first seconds, and in several variants for A/B testing. Because no shoot is involved, new variants appear without a reshoot. The same applies to social media videos that run organically on a profile rather than as an ad.
What an AI social ad is
A social ad is a short video you run as a paid placement in a platform feed. It is not a commercial in miniature but a format with rules of its own: portrait, a hook in the first seconds, understandable without sound, built for a thumb that is already moving. With us every shot is produced on its own out of concept, image generation and finishing. Because nothing is filmed, the second, third and tenth variant cost only compute time and an edit.
Social ad, organic post or UGC?
Three terms that get mixed up in daily use, although they differ clearly on one point: who sees the video and why.
| Term | What it is | How it is distributed |
|---|---|---|
| Social ad | an advertising video with budget behind it | paid, to an audience that does not follow you |
| Organic post | the same video without budget | to your followers, reach is the platform's call |
| UGC video | a style, not a placement | usually as an ad, but it looks like a user clip |
| Reel, Short, TikTok | names for the same portrait placement | Instagram, YouTube and TikTok each call it something else |
For the production the difference matters little, for the edit a great deal. An ad needs the hook in the first second; an organic post may take a moment, because the viewers already know you.
AI social ads and a conventional shoot compared
Social ads wear out fast and constantly need new material. That is the point where the two routes separate most clearly.
| Conventional shoot | AI production | |
|---|---|---|
| Lead time | shoot day, location, cast, weather | briefing and styleframes |
| A second variant | another shoot day, or leftover footage | generate a new hook, the rest stays |
| Impossible shots | expensive effects, or not at all | standard: zero gravity, macro, invented worlds |
| Real people | yes | only hybrid, with filmed material |
| Cost | a shoot day with a small camera team usually 950 to 1,500 € net, plus edit and sound; a finished spot for online channels usually runs 4,000 to 15,000 € net | from 1,000 €, variants by effort, see Pricing |
The ranges come from publicly listed prices of production companies in Austria and Germany, retrieved 19.09.2026. Sources and the full calculation are on What does a commercial cost?
Formats and lengths
We plan the formats from the start. A spot that is only cropped afterwards usually loses exactly what matters in portrait, see aspect ratio.
| Format | Typical placement | Usual length | What we watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9:16 | Reels, Stories, TikTok, YouTube Shorts | 6 to 30 seconds | product and text in the middle of the frame, clear of the interface at the edges |
| 1:1 or 4:5 | feed on Instagram and Facebook | 6 to 15 seconds | a clear composition that still works small |
| 16:9 | YouTube, website, presentation | 15 to 60 seconds | more room for surroundings and story |
The hook: the first seconds decide
In the feed the opening decides whether anyone keeps watching. So we build every video from the hook outwards. The product or the surprising image comes first, not at the end.
- An unexpected image: a scene that could not be filmed, a product in zero gravity for instance.
- The result first: the finished dish, the gleaming pan, the chilled drink.
- A question or statement on screen: a short line that is understood without sound.
- Movement from the first frame: no calm opening, no logo as a title card.
Every video also works muted, with on-screen text and subtitles rather than a voice carrying the message alone.
Variants for A/B testing
An A/B test only shows you something if the variants differ clearly on one point. So we plan variants deliberately instead of generating new clips at random.
- Hook: two or three different openings with the rest unchanged.
- Image world: summer against winter, kitchen against studio.
- Message: different claims or on-screen lines.
- Length: a short and a longer version of the same spot.
Which variants and formats are included is written in the offer. Further variants are charged by effort.
Where AI reaches its limits
Testimonials with a face and a voice should come from real people. An invented person appearing as a satisfied customer can mislead viewers and is legally exposed. What we offer instead: videos in UGC style with the product at the centre, hands unboxing for instance, or a scene from the first-person view. Real footage can be combined with AI scenes on request. Everything on that is on the page UGC videos with AI.
The second limit is long spoken passages in close-up. Lips, teeth and eyeline need many passes there. For talking heads an avatar video is usually the cleaner route, because it is recognisable as generated from the start.
Labelling on the platforms
The large platforms have their own rules for AI content, on top of the labelling duty under EU law. We deliver every video with a note on how to label it.
- YouTube requires disclosure when realistic content is AI-generated or significantly altered, for instance a realistic scene that never happened. It is set in YouTube Studio under the altered-content declaration (YouTube Help).
- Meta marks ads created or significantly altered with generative AI with an "AI info" label. Ads on political and social issues carry a disclosure duty of their own (Meta Help Centre).
- TikTok requires AI-generated content with realistic images, audio or video to be labelled. That can be done with the platform label, a sticker or a caption (TikTok Newsroom).
Platform rules change often. These statements are current as of 19.09.2026. We review them quarterly.
How a project runs
- First call: 30 minutes, goal, audience and number of variants.
- Concept and hooks: we propose the openings that should be tested.
- Styleframes: you approve look and image world before production.
- Production: base version and variants, on-screen text, sound.
- Delivery: all formats and edit lengths, with a note on labelling.
That is the short version. All nine steps with the approvals are on Process.
Common questions
What does an AI video for social media ads cost?
An AI video for social ads starts at 1,000 € net with Syntax Motion, including the formats agreed in the offer. Further variants for A/B testing are charged by effort. A conventionally shot spot for online channels usually costs 4,000 to 15,000 € net. An overview is on Commercial cost.
What is the difference between a social ad and a commercial?
A commercial has a fixed length and tells a complete story, often for several channels at once. A social ad is cut for one placement, opens with the hook and usually exists in several variants that are tested against each other. Technically both are made the same way, see AI commercial production.
How many variants should I test?
That depends on the budget. Every variant needs enough delivery for the result to mean anything. On a small budget you learn more from a few clearly different hooks than from many similar clips. We agree the number with you in the first call.
Do I have to label AI advertising on Instagram and TikTok?
Not every AI video has to be labelled. Since 2 August 2026, Article 50 of the AI Act requires disclosure for deepfakes, that is convincingly real content showing real or plausibly real people, places or events. YouTube, Meta and TikTok have additional rules of their own. Meta applies its own "AI info" label to ads. We deliver every video with a note on how to label it.
Do you also make UGC videos with AI avatars?
Not videos in which invented people appear as real customers. That can mislead and is legally exposed. We produce videos in UGC style focused on the product and combine real testimonials with AI scenes where needed. Avatars as recognisable presenters are possible, see Avatar video.
