About Syntax Motion

Syntax Motion is an AI video agency based in Vienna, Austria. We produce commercials, brand films and social ads with generative AI for companies across the German-speaking region and internationally. Where a film needs filming, we travel to it. Seven people stand behind the agency, and you can see all of them on this page, by name and by face.

Where the name Syntax Motion comes from

Syntax is the set of rules by which single parts add up to a meaning: words in a language, instructions in code. Motion is the moving image. The name describes exactly how we work. An AI film is not made in one piece but shot by shot. Each one is generated on its own, checked, and either discarded or kept. Only the rule by which they are assembled turns them into a film.

Hence the claim we started out with: the new era of video production. Visual, expressive, dynamic. Not because the technology is new, but because images become possible that used to need a budget most companies never had. From idea to 4K in days, not months.

How we work

AI generates images, not films. The difference is made by concept, direction, selection and post-production. No shot goes into the edit unchecked, and nothing is published without your approval.

Style frames first

You see look, light and composition as stills before a single second of film exists. If the look is wrong, changing it at this point costs almost nothing.

Every shot is checked

For the typical AI errors: unnatural hands, distorted faces, jumping textures. Whatever shows up is corrected in post or generated again.

Open about limits

If your project would be better filmed, we say so in the first call. An honest no costs less than a film that does not fit the brand.

Disclosure built in

Where the AI Act requires disclosure, we plan the notice into the film rather than laying it over the finished cut.

In our experience an AI production at studio level costs around a quarter of a comparable shoot and is three to four times faster. These are our own figures from live projects, not market data. For every shot we use, at least five are discarded. That selection is where the quality is decided.

How that compares with a traditional shoot, in cost and in time, is set out under AI video versus a traditional shoot.

The people behind it

Seven in Vienna

Seven permanent people, plus freelance specialists we bring in per project. That makes us small enough that you talk to the people who actually build your film.

Work and references

The films in our portfolio are spec work, made without a client: some for invented brands, some as a free take on known brands. We label that openly on every film. Commented examples are under brand films.

We will publish client projects with name, task and result as soon as the first films are live at our clients and we are allowed to name them. We would rather show honest spec work here than a reference list nobody can verify.

What a film costs and what drives the price is set out under pricing and what a commercial costs.

What we stand for

Six values are written in our brand sheet. What each one means in daily work is set out here, so that you can hold us to them.

Ideas

Every production starts with a concept, not with a prompt. What the film has to say is settled before the first image exists.

Creativity

We build image worlds instead of filling templates. The shots that cannot be filmed are the whole reason to work with AI at all.

Quality

For one shot that makes it into the finished film we discard at least five. Anyone advertising very low prices is usually saving exactly here.

Professionalism

A fixed price before the first working hour, a delivery date in the offer, four approval points. Spec work is labelled as such on every single film.

Premium

No kit and no tool access. You get a finished film whose direction, edit, colour and sound were made by people.

Self-assurance

We also say no. No invented customer testimonials, no likenesses of real people without consent, and we recommend a shoot when it serves your goal better.

Frequently asked questions

How long has Syntax Motion existed?

Syntax Motion has worked out of Vienna since 2026. We are seven permanent people, plus freelance specialists per project. We have specialised in video production with generative AI from the start.

Do you only work with AI?

Image and motion are mostly generated. Concept, direction, editing, colour and sound are done by people. When real people or places have to be visible, we combine the AI production with a short shoot, filmed by Dean Rocinante himself.

Where are you based?

We are based in Vienna's tenth district, Erlachgasse 53-57/6/2. That is our only office, not the limit of where we work. We produce for clients across the German-speaking region and beyond, and we travel to shoots wherever they are. Everything else, from the briefing to the final approval, works remotely.

How many attempts does a finished film take?

For every shot we use, at least five are discarded. A minute of film takes around a hundred generations. That selection is the part of the work you never see in the result and the part that decides its quality.

When is AI a better choice than a traditional shoot?

When your spot needs images that would be expensive or impossible on set: macro shots, fantasy worlds, products in changing settings or many variants for different channels. Shoot day, crew and location fall away; the work moves into concept, generation and post-production. If real people from your company need to appear, a shoot or a hybrid production is usually the better choice, and we tell you so openly in the first call. See AI commercial.

Which AI tools do you use?

We test new models continuously and use the tool that fits each shot best. Currently that includes Seedance, Veo, Kling and Google Flow for motion, Seedream, Nano Banana, GPT Image and Seed 1.0 for stills, Topaz for upscaling, and Soundly and Artlist for sound.

How do you make sure the result does not look like AI?

We check every shot for typical AI errors such as unnatural hands, distorted faces or flickering textures and fix them in post-production. We combine generative AI with classic motion design. You approve styleframes and the rough cut before we render the final version, and nothing goes live without your sign-off.

What makes you different from a traditional video agency?

We create macro shots, textures and fantasy worlds without a set. There are no location fees and no weather delays. Single scenes can be regenerated later without a reshoot, so smaller budgets can still get an elaborate look.

How risky is a first AI project?

You approve at four points: concept, styleframes, motion tests and rough cut. You see look, light and composition before the main production starts. Every step is described under how a project runs.

How do we find out whether our idea works with AI?

In a 30-minute Google Meet call. You outline your idea or send a short mood board, and we tell you honestly whether the look can be achieved with AI. At worst, you leave with a free assessment.

Why hire an AI video agency in Vienna?

Syntax Motion is an agency for video production in Vienna with generative AI, based in Vienna's tenth district, working for companies in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and beyond. Many AI video companies sell access to a tool or resell whatever a model returns. We deliver a finished film: concept, direction, editing, colour and sound are done by people. Campaign planning and media buying we do not do.
