Portrait of Dean Rocinante, Co-founder, camera and hybrid production at Syntax Motion

Co-founder, camera and hybrid production

Co-founder of Syntax Motion and the only one of us who still picks up a camera. Dean shoots the passages that do not convince generatively and brings live footage and AI scenes together so that the seam does not show.

What he is responsible for

AI does not replace a shoot when specific real people have to appear: your team, your management, customers describing their experience. Long dialogue with lipsync stays demanding too. For those cases there is hybrid production, and that is Dean's part.

He shoots those passages with a small crew, and he makes sure that light, lens character and colour match the generated scenes. That matching is the actual work, not the shoot itself.

When you speak to him

When a shoot is worth it

Whenever one particular face carries the message. A shoot day with a small camera team costs 950 to 1,500 € net at market rates, and for a recruitment film that money is usually better spent than any generation. More on the comparison in AI video or traditional shoot.

Frequently asked questions

When does a camera come into a project at all?

When specific real people, rooms or machines have to be seen, and for long dialogue in close-up. Everything else is produced generatively.

What does half a shoot day add?

A shoot day with a small camera team sits at 950 to 1,500 € net at market rates, half a day accordingly less. We list it as its own item in the offer.

Do you shoot outside Vienna?

Yes, across Austria and in neighbouring countries. Travel costs then appear separately in the offer so you can see what the location change costs.
