AI animation
AI animation describes moving images whose frames are produced wholly or partly by a model. The difference to classic animation is not in the result but in the route: instead of building every movement by hand, the scene is described and chosen from many results.
Classic and generative compared
| Classic animation | AI animation | |
|---|---|---|
| Route | build figures, set motion curves | describe, generate, select |
| Control | complete, every detail plannable | steered via reference images and keyframes |
| Changes | targeted, even late | usually a new generation of the shot |
| Strength | exact sequences, infographics, logo | worlds, mood, material, light |
From that follows the division of labour we use: explanatory graphics, numbers and the logo are made classically, everything atmospheric generatively. Which part dominates depends on the film.
Where AI animation fails today
Exactly repeatable movements are difficult. A gear that turns precisely three times, or a bar that grows to an exact value, is faster built classically than generated. The same goes for type: models set letters that look like text from a distance but spell nothing on closer inspection. So we always lay type over in the edit.
Frequently asked questions
What is AI animation?
AI animation describes animated images whose frames are produced by generative models. It is steered through descriptions, reference images and opening and closing frames. Concept, selection and editing stay human work.
Is AI animation suitable for explainer videos?
Partly. For mood, environment and transitions yes, for exact sequences, type and numbers we work classically. Most explainers are therefore mixed.
What does an AI animation cost?
Projects start at 1,000 € net. The price depends on the number of shots, the demand for realism and the versions required. See pricing.
