AI avatar
An AI avatar is a generated person speaking to camera. It is common for product introductions, training and ads where somebody explains something without a shoot. An avatar is not a likeness of a real person, and that is exactly the difference to a deepfake.
What an avatar suits
- Training and onboarding: the same content in several languages without a new recording.
- Product introductions: short, factual, updated whenever the product changes.
- Internal communication: where a face helps but nobody has to be a specific person.
- Ads in which somebody explains a benefit in a few sentences.
What an avatar does not do is replace a real person whose credibility carries the message. A founder talking about their own company is not interchangeable, and a generated stand-in reads as exactly that.

We work with invented avatars and, with written consent, with digital twins. What we do not do is recreate a real person without their agreement, see deepfake.
Where the limits are
Long passages in close-up stay demanding, because lipsync has to hold across seconds. Emotion, irony and pauses are where a generated delivery still shows. For anything longer than about ten seconds at a time, we cut away to other images.

What is an AI avatar?

Does an AI avatar have to be labelled?
A visibly artificial avatar resembling nobody triggers no disclosure duty under Article 50 of the AI Act. A recreation of a real person does, and it requires that person's consent. Platform rules may apply on top.
Can the avatar speak several languages?
Yes, with matching mouth movement. That is the strongest argument for an avatar: the same content in three languages costs far less than three recordings. See AI voice.
